Iris Lanhua Ma is an emerging international award-winning filmmaker and one of China's most notable young female directors.

Her short film, There is Honor among Thieves, won the best experimental film at Chinese First International Film Festival and Official Selection International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2019 and went to Tokyo Image Forum Film Festival (Japan) and Seashorts Festival (Malaysia) in 2020. Who is Afraid of Writing Class, her latest film has been nominated for Long Feature Fribourg International Film Festival in 2024.

 

Her works have been screened in various countries, including China, the Netherlands, Japan, the United States, and Switzerland, highlighting her global recognition and diverse appeal.

She is an alumna of Emerson College in the United States.
